HOPI EAR CANDLING/

THERMAL AURICULAR THERAPY

A suction action (chimney effect).  The heat open pores and can draw out impurities and any loose or flaky skin or ear wax from the external part of the ear.  The sizzling sound of the candle burning creates a sound frequency (vibration), which reaches the ear drum and in turn the ear bones resulting in the constant frequency massaging the inner ear.

This vibration is pushed further into the head pushing out any blocked pressure in the Eustachian tubes (connects middle ear to the throat and back of the nose and acts to keep the eardrum intact by equalising pressure between the middle and outer ear) and helping to break down any cerumen (ear wax) or mucus blocking the sinuses and connecting tubes.

Once the cerumen or mucus or ear wax has been broken down into smaller particles it is easier for the body to dispose of and it does this by passing through the lymphatic system.  The treatment is therefore a detoxifying process and a massage to stimulate the circulation and the flow of lymph.

The candle can burn differently for each person

depending on the condition of the ears and sinuses.  If they are very blocked, burning can take 15-20 minutes, but if these are clear 10-12 minutes.

The ear contains nerve endings and many acupressure points all of which are connected to the mind and emotion of the human body.  These points are connected to the subtle energy fields which flows in streams throughout the body, when purified the subtle energy allows the life forces to open up to our most sensitive side.

This therapy acts as a catalyst to clear out the debris and stagnation which has accumulated.  Once the blockages have been removed a clear flow of vibration to the corresponding areas of the mind, body and spirit, helps to clear a way for other healing work to take place.

What To Expect

After candle has been inserted into the ear you may feel cracking, sizzling or popping as the wax is being loosened.  This is a natural occurrence and you should feel relaxed and comfortable.  You may feel more heat if you suffer from excessive hearing loss.  If the intensity of the heat becomes too uncomfortable, tell the therapist.  They will stop immediately and remove the candle.

Once the procedure is complete you may feel slightly light-headed and your hearing may appear to be sharper and noises may sound louder, due to your hearing having improved.

This treatment is not a substitute for any medical remedy or cure but will help in improving the condition of the ear.

What ailments are helped by this therapy?

Rhinitis (hayfever)

Candida (can assist in preventing fungus growing in outer ear canal)

Sinusitis/sinus problems

Headaches/Migraines

Glue ear/otitis media (fluid in middle ear)

Labrynthitis (ailment of inner ear)

Tinnitus

Neuralgia

Menieres (Semi circular canals blocked – dizziness, vertigo, ringing)

Unequal pressure in ears, especially for Barotrauma (to use 4 or so days before flying and

  landing)

Hearing loss/problems caused by pressure differences, effectively decreased motion of the

tympanic membrane/ear drum and ossicles/bones of the ear and Excessive wax blockages

Excessive wax (softens and filters excess ear wax through the body’s natural elimination

process, does not draw out wax into the candle)

Swimmers ear/water in the ear

Snoring

Colds and flu

Vertigo

Insomnia

Aids in relaxation thus relieving stress and anxiety related problems

Effects

• Releases toxins via lymphatic system (esp.

         during the lymphatic drainage massage)

• Releases fresh oxygen and nutrients due to the

increase of the blood circulation thus

aiding in the regeneration and rejuvenation of

         tissue cells.

• Accelerates release of stagnation and

blockages within the energy flow via pressure

point application helping balance the energy

         flow through the body

How often?

One lone treatment may be enough.  Serious problems - intensive 3 treatments over a 3 week period, one per week, such as frequent migraine attacks or painful blocked ears or sinuses, then 2-6 month after this.  Treatment will be evaluated, and if necessary be administered on a regular basis, weekly or monthly.
